Outreach Efforts ![]() ![]() In addition to partnering with nearly 100 local non-profit organizations, WestArk RSVP manages its own program which provide direct assistance to the community. RSVP Community Outreach program volunteers serve by: MEDICARE Assisting Medicare beneficiaries in applying for federal Low-Income subsidy and theArkansas Medicare Savings Programs, aiding Medicare beneficiaries in choosing Medicare Part C and Part D plans and counseling new Medicare beneficiaries.Over forty percent of the adults over age 60 in our community have difficulty with the paperwork required by applications for social safety net programs because of illiteracy, vision problems or comprehension problems due to illness. INCOME TAX Preparing and electronically filing federal and state (Arkansas and Oklahoma) tax returns for senior citizens, disabled, Non-English Speaking, rural individuals and families whose Adjusted Gross Income is below $49,000. ADVOCACY Partnering with the Arkansas Insurance Commission, Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP). RSVP members serving as SHIIP Advocates volunteer to educate consumers, unravel bureaucratic mazes, and submit fraud complaints. http://www.arkansas.gov/dhs/aging/asmp.html
